Pelakon-Pelakon Makoke? Cupcakes

The cast of Makoke? Cupcakes is fully composed of SMU students. Read the stories of these student actors and actresses who undertook the momentuous task of juggling two lives - one life filled with books, and the other life on stage.

In this production, he takes on two completely different roles, with a major role as Iskandar, an undergrad who assists his aunt's business, and a minor role as a rich foreigner boyfriend. He hopes that the skills he learnt through training and acting in this production will help him be a better performer for an audience in the future.

Nuhsyafiq Bin Abdul Rahman

as Iskandar

The performing arts was never something Syafiq has immersed himself in. Coming from a sports and uniformed groups background, he would have never dreamt of performing for an audience. Despite so, he is interested in experiencing the life of a performer, especially since this is his last chance to join a student club. Whilst he enjoys singing in front of an audience, he realizes that acting utilizes a different set of skills altogether.

Nurul Natasha Bte Mohamed Noor

as Melati

The stage means a lot to me: it challenges me, nurtures me - I've found myself over and over again on stage. It's my first love. I'm glad to be doing drama and tarian again - it was how I started my stage experience eons ago, and now at the end of my university life, I've come full circle. Thank you Persadamu.

Aunty Mary is one of the most fun characters I've ever played. In many ways I can relate to her - perhaps my friends would say she's an amplified version of myself. I look forward to seeing what more I can bring to her character, and hope I do justice to the character that the writer gave birth to!

Syahirah Bte Osman

as Rokiah

This play brings back a lot of memories for me - in fact Melati is very similar to the first character I have ever played, when I first got involved in drama. It is nostalgic, but beyond that, it makes this experience a very special one - after four years of being in theater, it's interesting to return to my first persona, and see how I have grown over the years, how I am able to add a different perspective to my character.

Melati is your typical happy-go-lucky girl, and she truly is a rare gem, because in this time and age it is difficult to such a sincere, warm hearted and positive individual - in many ways she is very different from who I am and I find this refreshing.

I hope you have fun!

Nur Jannah Cheang Bte Muhd Khairi

as Aunty Mary

Prior to this production, I have never been part of a theatre production. The main reason why I took part in this production is because I would like to try out something new and exciting during the summer break!

As this is my first acting experience, portraying Rokiah will pose as a great challenge for me. However, with great determination, I will try my best to portray this strong minded and tenacious woman. It also gives me great pleasure to work with an amazing group at cast!

Suhaimi Bin Sudar

as Abang Wan

This is my fourth time acting in a Malay theatre, something that has became a passion since my freshmen days in SMU. Not sure if I love the stage or the stage loves me (haha).

Can say that this will be my "testimonial performance" before I graduate this year. But who knows, this may not be my last after all? ;) Bringing the role of Abang Wan (Azwan) has its own challenges. But as the Malays always say, go je! (just whack!) Hahaha. Enjoy!

Khairul Anwar Bin Abdul Karim

as Haji Bakar

Saya penagih teater. Tak habis-habis, tiap tahun kalau tak ada satu, tak sah. Tapi kalau rezeki datang, mengapa hendak menolak? Betul kan? Saya tak nak berbual banyak-banyak, yang penting enjoy!

OK, kerana Mbah Bah suruh saya tulis lebih panjang sikit, saya rasa amat bangga atas kejayaan Persada SMU sehingga detik ini. Titik peluh, penat lelah, jom datanglah tengok. Mari kita enjoy sama-sama!

Nur Hazura Bte Mohd Faeaz

as Mbah Bah

I have always been interested in the Malay performing arts especially Malay Theatre and it was only in Junior College when I was given the opportunity to be involved in a theatre production. I recalled that I had so much fun the last time I was involved and ever since, I miss the whole experience so much. So yup, this is why I decided to take part in this year’s production and I cannot wait to learn more!

Also, I am nervous and excited at the same time as the character that I am playing this time round is different from any other characters that I have played before. I really hope that I am able to carry my character well. Do keep a look out for Mbah Bah ok!

Siti Rahah Bte Mohd Bahari

as Penolong Mbah Bah

I'm no stranger to the arts scene. I've been in music based CCAs, like band, for most of my schooling years and have been on stage on multiple occasions, either as the performer or the emcee. It was only in university that I started trying out singing and acting in front of an audience instead of playing an instrument. All the singing and acting was done in English though so this Malay production is literally a whole new ball game for me. Admittedly, it's not something that I have imagined myself doing as my Malay language skills is rather lacking.

The character that I'll be playing in the production is not one that I'm unfamiliar with. I can honestly say that the challenge for me being in this production stems from the language. And perhaps the choreography. I can't dance to save my life. So do look forward to that!

Siti Mariam Bte Jumsadi

as Penolong Mbah Bah

This is my first time acting in a Malay production. I join with the hopes of having fun and so far I am enjoying myself!

I hope you will enjoy our performance! ;)
